Hyperhidrosis is a condition that causes excessive sweating.
The sweating may affect the whole body or certain areas and occurs without exercising or getting hot. Although hyperhidrosis doesn’t necessarily pose a threat to your health it can knock self-confidence.
Hyperhidrosis affects between 1 and 3 in every 100 hundred people in the UK. It is quite a common condition and can develop at any age. The nerves that send a signal to the sweat glands are overactive.
Botox is a common treatment as it blocks the nerves that supply eccrine glands, preventing them from producing sweat.
